Unshakeable Hope

I wrote this for a fiction writing class. The assignment was called "Ripped from the Headlines" and we were supposed to write story based on a newspaper headline. I was following the earthquakes in Puerto Rico at the time, and I thought about what it would be like if the earthquakes happened somewhere else.
